American Academy of Pediatrics is urging parents to read to newborns. I’ve always read to my children and truly believe it helps build vocabulary and problem-solving skills. For newborns, use bright colored books and black & white contrast books with pictures. Pick a book to end with every night to start a bedtime routine. We read Good Night God by Holly Bea as our last book before bed. Now my toddler tries to read it to me!
It only takes about fifteen minutes to read a few books to your little one. I love reading but I love the bonding and cuddling even more. Your children benefit from the time with you. Take your children to the library and pick out some books and start a reading habit tonight!
